Katharine's hometown is Williamsburg, Kentucky--a small Appalachian community built in the foothills of Southeastern Kentucky. She enjoys playing cheap shows in old dive bars and writing sad songs. Whether camping, hiking, or kayaking, she loves spending time outdoors and visiting museums, the theater, hunting for antiques, and driving too fast.
Katharine Hudson's inspiration comes from her experiences and the stories of her loved ones that have been passed down for generations. Her songs carry undertones of each thread of her musical upbringing and education: the intricate harmonies of a bluegrass ballad echoing through a valley, the rock rhythms that make your heart beat too fast and remind you you’re alive, and the rapturous storytelling of an old country singer in a smoky bar, who has lived many more lives than just the one they’re credited for.
Katharine comes from generations of hard-working men and women who have scrubbed coal dust from their clothes and worn holes in the soles of their shoes on dirty factory floors. She's lived firsthand through addiction, pain, loneliness, recovery, heartbreak…..and deep, beautiful love so strong it’ll knock you off your feet.
"All of these things come with feelings and emotions, too deep and raw to be artificially manufactured or cheaply reproduced. Music allows any listener to feel like they’re sitting right there with you, swapping long-lost stories over a slowly dying campfire, sharing a connection, if just for a moment. That’s what inspires me."
